Technical Details
Tracking Methodology
The plugin tracks editing sessions using the following approach:
- When a user starts editing a post, the plugin records the start time and initial content state
- When the user saves the post, the plugin records the end time and final content state
- The plugin calculates the duration and changes made during the session
- Sessions with significant changes or sufficient duration are recorded in the database
Elementor Integration
For Elementor, the plugin:
- Hooks into Elementor's editor loading and saving events
- Tracks changes to Elementor data structures
- Combines standard content changes with Elementor-specific changes for accurate reporting
Data Storage
The plugin stores session data in a custom database table with the following information:
- User ID
- Post ID
- Start time
- End time
- Duration
- Activity summary
Date Format
The plugin uses the following date format conventions:
- Input Format: The date picker uses the YYYY-MM-DD format (e.g., 2025-04-06)
- Database Storage: All dates are stored in MySQL datetime format
- Display Format: Dates are displayed according to the WordPress date format settings
- Date Processing: The plugin includes date normalization to handle various input formats, but the YYYY-MM-DD format is recommended for best results
Requirements
- WordPress 5.0 or higher
- PHP 7.0 or higher
- MySQL 5.6 or higher
