Frequently Asked Questions
Is this plugin compliant with Google Consent Mode v2?
Yes. It implements all four required parameters: ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization. Default consent is set to denied before any scripts load, and updated immediately after the user makes a choice.
Do I need Google Tag Manager?
No. You can enter your GA4 Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) or Google Ads ID (AW-XXXXXXXXXX) directly in the plugin settings. The plugin injects the correct snippets into your page automatically.
Does Meta Pixel fire before consent is given?
No. The pixel script is completely blocked until the user explicitly accepts advertising cookies. It is loaded via a JavaScript wcc:consent event — no data is sent to Facebook before consent is granted.
Are consent records stored?
Yes. Every consent decision is saved to the WordPress database with a SHA-256 hashed IP (no raw IPs), the scope of consent, the consent version number, and a timestamp. You can view and export these records from the admin panel at any time.
What happens when I update my privacy policy?
Go to Settings → Justbo Consent Banner → Google section and increment the Consent Version (e.g. from 1.0 to 1.1). All returning visitors will be shown the consent banner again on their next visit.
Is this plugin really free?
Yes. There are no premium plans, no feature locks, and no upsells. Every feature described here is available in the free version.
Is the plugin GDPR / RODO compliant?
Yes. It was built specifically for EU/EEA compliance: default deny before interaction, consent logging with hashed identifiers, consent versioning for policy updates, and a granular category system (Necessary / Analytics / Advertising).
Can I style the banner to match my website?
Yes. You can change colors, border radius, and button labels in the settings. There is also a Custom CSS field where you can write any additional styles using #wcc-banner as the parent selector.
