This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/wpexplorer/wpex-remove-upsells-for-yoast-seo/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

Remove Upsells for Yoast SEO

A lightweight WordPress plugin that removes promotional UI elements and upsell notices from Yoast SEO in the WordPress admin.

Yoast SEO includes various promotional banners, upsells, and admin notices that some site owners prefer to remove for a cleaner dashboard experience.

This plugin focuses only on UI cleanup and does not modify SEO functionality.

📦 Installation

  1. Go to the Releases page

  2. Download the latest release .zip file (e.g. plugin-name-1.0.0.zip)

  3. Locate the downloaded file on your computer

  4. Extract the .zip file

  5. Inside the extracted folder, you will see a folder like:
    wpex-remove-upsells-for-yoast-seo-1.0.0

  6. Rename that folder to remove the version number:
    wpex-remove-upsells-for-yoast-seo-1.0.0 → wpex-remove-upsells-for-yoast-seo

  7. Right-click the renamed folder and compress/zip it again

  8. You should now have a clean installable ZIP: wpex-remove-upsells-for-yoast-seo.zip

  9. In your WordPress admin:

    • Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
    • Upload the plugin-name.zip file
    • Click Install Now
    • Click Activate Plugin
