Adds a standalone product video tile under the WooCommerce gallery without modifying gallery output. Uses a custom modal to avoid theme gallery overlays.

Description

HM Product Video Image renders a "Product Video" tile under the WooCommerce product gallery without injecting into gallery HTML or scripts. It supports YouTube (including Shorts) and MP4 sources, and opens in its own play button + modal/lightbox so Astra and other themes cannot swallow clicks.

Features

  • Standalone Product Video tile rendered after the gallery (or below the summary).
  • Supports YouTube Shorts, standard YouTube links, and MP4 URLs.
  • Optional lightbox modal (enabled by default) with custom overlay and controls.
  • Poster image support.
  • Keeps the WooCommerce Product Data > Video Gallery tab with familiar controls.

Installation

  1. Upload the plugin files to the /wp-content/plugins/hm-product-video-image directory, or install via the WordPress Plugins screen.
  2. Activate the plugin through the "Plugins" screen in WordPress.
  3. Ensure WooCommerce is active.

Usage

  1. Edit a product in WooCommerce.
  2. Open the Video Gallery tab in the Product Data panel.
  3. Check Enable video tile.
  4. Choose Video type (YouTube or MP4).
  5. Enter the corresponding URL (YouTube Shorts and standard watch links are accepted).
  6. Optionally set a Poster image ID and adjust Placement (Below Gallery or Below Summary).
  7. Decide whether to keep the Lightbox modal enabled (recommended) and customize the Button label.

Notes

  • The plugin does not modify the WooCommerce product gallery HTML, slides, or scripts. It renders its own block below the gallery using WooCommerce hooks (before summary at priority 25 by default) to avoid Astra overlay conflicts.
  • The modal is built with vanilla JS/CSS and uses dedicated play and CTA buttons to always open the plugin’s own overlay.
