Modern Catholic – Parish Homilies
A WordPress plugin for organizing and publishing parish homilies. Provides a “Homilies” custom post type with sermon date, preacher, and audio URL fields. Includes a shortcode for embedding homily lists in any page or block theme. Ideal for parishes publishing weekly or seasonal messages.

List recent homilies (default limit 5):

limit(int): Number of homilies to list (default 5). Homilies are sorted by_pp_homily_datedescending.
Block
Add the Modern Catholic – Parish Homilies block in the editor to adjust the list length visually. The block uses the shortcode renderer for consistent output.
Installation
- Upload or clone
modern-catholic-plugin-parish-homiliesintowp-content/plugins/. - Activate Modern Catholic – Parish Homilies from Plugins.
- Add Homilies (
mc_homily) with date, preacher, and media URLs, then place the shortcode or block where you want the list to appear.

Compatibility identifiers
Existing pp_homily posts are migrated to the standardized mc_homily post
type. The _pp_homily_* metadata, [parishpress_homilies] shortcode,
parishpress/homilies block name, and parishpress-homilies text domain remain
stable so existing WordPress content remains compatible.
