Editloft is a fork of Edit Flow, the editorial-workflow plugin originally written by Mohammad Jangda and Daniel Bachhuber and later maintained by Automattic. Why this exists I ran newsroom-style publishing on WordPress for years, and Edit Flow was the tool I trusted for it. Custom statuses so a post could be a pitch before it was a draft. An editorial calendar so I could see the week at a glance. Private notes between an editor and a writer that never showed up on the front end. Then Edit Flow stopped being maintained. The community picked it up and grew it into a larger commercial suite, which is a good outcome, but it carried more than I wanted for my own sites. I needed the small, sharp core back: the five or six things I actually used every day, rebuilt for the block editor and current WordPress, with nothing I would have to switch off on install.
