Small WordPress plugin for WooCommerce product admins.

It adds the WooCommerce GTIN / barcode field to:

the Products list table;
the product Quick Edit panel.

By default it reads and writes WooCommerce's _global_unique_id product meta field.

The plugin saves this value directly as product meta. It does not call WooCommerce's set_global_unique_id() method, because some WooCommerce versions validate GTIN/EAN values as unique. This shop must allow duplicate manufacturer barcodes.

Installation

Copy this folder to:

wp-content/plugins/edit-woocommerce-gtin-field-in-quick-edit

Then activate Edit WooCommerce GTIN Field in Quick Edit in WordPress admin.

Usage

Go to Products in WordPress admin. A GTIN / barcode column is shown near the SKU column.

Click Quick Edit for a product and edit the GTIN / barcode field.

Custom meta key

If the shop uses a different meta key, add this to a small site-specific plugin or theme functions file:

Notes

This plugin does not generate barcodes, validate uniqueness, print labels, or change WooCommerce product data other than the configured GTIN meta field. Duplicate barcode values are intentionally allowed.
