This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/teckglobal/teckglobal-image-convert-webp/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

A WordPress plugin by Teck Global to convert any uploaded image jpg/jpeg/png to webp at 80 percent quality.

Features

All newly added files that are in formats .jpg/jpeg/png will be converted to 80% quality and webp, this helps reduce the overall size on the sites data and speeds up the user experience.

Installation

  1. Upload the image-convert-webp folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
  3. Upload a .jpg or whatever file and what it convert to webp.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is for sites that want to imporve speed for the user, this is probably not for people in the photography business and want complete quality to show their users, while it would probably not be noticeable you might have a user that can see a difference with quality.
