Frequently Asked Questions

Does SyntekPro Slider slow down my site?

No. Scripts and stylesheets are only loaded on pages that actually use a slider. Asset optimisation can be further enabled in Settings → Optimise Assets.

Can I use it with any theme?

Yes. SyntekPro Slider is theme-agnostic and works with any properly-coded WordPress theme.

Does it support responsive design?

Yes. Each slider has three independent layout modes — Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile — so you have full control over how it looks on every screen size.

Can I use videos as slide backgrounds?

Yes. You can embed YouTube, Vimeo, or self-hosted MP4 videos as slide backgrounds via the Layer panel.

Is there a REST API?

Yes. A full REST API is available under /wp-json/syntekpro-slider/v1/. Endpoints are secured with WP nonces.

Findings

  • medium Editor AJAX actions registered for unauthenticated (nopriv) callers

    unnecessary_attack_surface

SPSLIDER core loops get_actions() and hooks each callback to both wp_ajax_{action} and wp_ajax_nopriv_{action}, including state-changing editor actions (save, delete, import, permissions, webhooks, push). Handlers call verify_admin() (manage_options + spslider_nonce), so unauth/subscriber cannot currently succeed, but any future handler that omits verify_admin becomes an unauthenticated RCE/content-write. Public-only actions should be the only nopriv registrations.

    includes/class-syntekpro-slider.php:42-44

    Recommendation

Register wp_ajax_nopriv_ only for intentionally public actions (spslider_track, spslider_convert, heatmap click). Keep editor actions on wp_ajax_ alone.

  • low Development smoke script with direct wp-load.php include

    dev_tool_in_production

_smoke.php requires a hardcoded local wp-load.php path for smoke testing and is shipped in the plugin package, adding unnecessary direct-bootstrap surface if the web server executes it.

    _smoke.php:1-12

    Recommendation

Remove _smoke.php from distribution builds or guard with php_sapi_name()==='cli' and deny web access.

WP Registry hashes the installable build and reports on that exact bytes-for-bytes copy. Embargoed findings are withheld until they are disclosed, so a clean verdict means nothing public is outstanding. WP Manifest does not audit code itself.
