Install

No release zip yet. The repository archive installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow:

wp plugin install https://github.com/shrinkray/uxpa-magazine-core-utility-protection/archive/refs/heads/main.zip

Ships its own WordPress updater (built-in updater), so new versions show up under Dashboard → Updates.

A consolidated custom utility plugin built for UXPA Magazine to replace multiple administrative plugin codebases and run high-efficiency, early-exit security firewall routines.

Features

  1. Early-Exit Bot Firewall: Intercepts and terminates author enumeration scans (?author=N) before WordPress runs heavy database tasks, returning 403 Forbidden early.
  2. Bulk Date Updater: Randomizes publication/modification dates of posts, pages, custom post types, and comments within a custom range (accessible under Settings > UXPA Core Utility > Bulk Date Updater).
  3. Taxonomy Terms Order: Enables hierarchical drag-and-drop sorting of categories and taxonomies (accessible under eligible post types > Taxonomy Order and settings at Settings > UXPA Core Utility > Term Ordering).
  4. Taxonomy Switcher: Provides a fast SQL-based utility to bulk switch terms from one taxonomy to another (accessible under Settings > UXPA Core Utility > Term Switcher).
  5. Taxonomy List Shortcode: Renders terms of any taxonomy dynamically on pages via the [taxonomy_list] shortcode.

Replaced Plugins

This plugin replaces the following independent extensions (which should remain deactivated):

  • bulk-post-update-date
  • taxonomy-terms-order
  • taxonomy-switcher
  • taxonomy-list

Unified Settings Panel

All settings and utilities are unified under Settings > UXPA Core Utility in the WordPress admin panel.

The configuration interface is organized into five tabs:

  1. Term Ordering: Auto Sort, Admin Sort, capability settings, and toggling reorder interfaces for public post types.
  2. Term Switcher: Transfer terms from one taxonomy to another via a fast direct SQL query.
  3. Bulk Date Updater: Randomize published/modified dates for posts, pages, custom post types, and comments.
  4. Shortcode Info: Reference instructions for utilizing the [taxonomy_list] shortcode.
  5. Bot Firewall: Enable/disable author enumeration scan protection.

Backward-Compatibility Redirects

Legacy URLs of the replaced plugins are automatically intercepted and redirected to their respective tabs on the new unified page:

  • /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=to-options → Redirects to Term Ordering tab.
  • /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bulk-post-update-date → Redirects to Bulk Date Updater tab.
  • /wp-admin/tools.php?page=taxonomy-switcher → Redirects to Term Switcher tab.

Installation

  1. Copy this folder uxpa-magazine-core-utility-protection into wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Activate the plugin in the WordPress Dashboard or run:
    wp plugin activate uxpa-magazine-core-utility-protection
  3. Deactivate the replaced plugins to avoid conflicts.
