Your product images must be named using this format:
[prefix][product-slug].[extension]
Examples:

blue-cotton-shirt - Image Name:
bulk-up-blue-cotton-shirt.jpg

- Wait for completion and review results!
Finding Product Slugs
Method 1 - From Product URL:
URL: https://yoursite.com/product/blue-cotton-shirt
Slug: blue-cotton-shirt (the last part after /product/)
Method 2 - From WordPress Admin:
- Go to Products → All Products
- Click on a product to edit
- Look at the permalink below the title
- The slug is the last part of the URL
Method 3 - Export All Slugs:
- Go to Products → All Products
- Use a plugin like "WP All Export" to export product slugs
- Or use WooCommerce's built-in export (Products → Export)
Method 2: CSV Upload (Advanced)
For users who need more control or are updating images from external URLs.
CSV Format:
Create a CSV file with two columns (no headers):
- Column A: Product URL
- Column B: Image URL
Example CSV:
https://yoursite.com/product/blue-shirt,https://example.com/images/blue-shirt.jpg
https://yoursite.com/product/red-pants,https://example.com/images/red-pants.jpg
https://yoursite.com/product/green-hat,https://cdn.example.com/green-hat.png
Steps:
- Prepare your CSV file
- Go to Tools → Bulk Image Updater
- Click the "📄 CSV Upload" tab
- Upload your CSV file
- Check "Download images to media library" (recommended)
- Click "Process CSV Updates"
Why Use a Prefix?
The prefix (like bulk-up-) helps:
- Avoid conflicts with existing images that might have similar names
- Identify which images were uploaded via bulk update
- Organize your media library better
- Prevent accidentally overwriting existing featured images
Troubleshooting
Products Not Found
Problem: Plugin says "Product not found for slug: xyz"
Solutions:
- Verify the product exists and is published
- Check if the slug is correct (go to the product edit page and look at permalink)
- Make sure you're using the exact slug (case-sensitive in some systems)
- Verify WooCommerce is activated
Images Not Uploading from ZIP
Problem: ZIP uploads but images don't process
Solutions:
- Check if image names have the correct prefix
- Verify image formats are supported (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP)
- Make sure ZIP file isn't corrupted
- Check file size limits in your hosting configuration
Prefix Mismatch
Problem: All images fail with "Image does not have required prefix"
Solutions:
- Check the prefix in Settings matches your image filenames
- Make sure there are no extra spaces in the prefix or filenames
- Verify image names start exactly with the prefix (case-sensitive)
Permission Errors
Solutions:
- Ensure your WordPress upload directory is writable
- Check PHP file upload limits in php.ini
- Verify user has 'manage_options' capability
- Contact your hosting provider if issues persist
Large File Uploads
If you're uploading many images or large files:
- Increase PHP
upload_max_filesizeandpost_max_size - Increase PHP
max_execution_time - Split large batches into smaller ZIP files
Check Log File
The plugin creates a detailed log at:
/wp-content/uploads/bulk-image-update-log.txt
This log contains information about each operation and helps diagnose issues.
Tips for Best Results
- Test First: Start with 2-3 products to verify everything works
- Backup: Always backup your database before bulk operations
- Image Optimization: Optimize images before uploading for better site performance
- Naming Convention: Be consistent with your naming (all lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces)
- Check Slugs: Double-check product slugs before renaming hundreds of images
- Batch Processing: For thousands of products, split into batches of 100-200
Batch Processing Example
For 500 products, create multiple ZIP files:
batch-1.zip- Products 1-100batch-2.zip- Products 101-200batch-3.zip- Products 201-300- etc.
Upload and process each batch separately.
