Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/samhermes/festival-event-manager/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

How to override templates

Festival includes a template for single events, which displays the event meta information alongside the standard elements. This template can be overriden in the active theme by adding a template called single-event.php in a directory called festival.
