AI-powered Custom CSS generation for ACF components
Install
Upload it under Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, then activate.
Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:
wp plugin install https://github.com/rjm-digital/rjm-css-advisor/releases/download/v1.11.1/rjm-css-advisor-1.11.1.zipAI-powered Custom CSS code generation for every ACF component. Describe your styling goal and the plugin writes the exact CSS for you.
What It Does
When editing a page in WordPress, every Custom CSS field now has a "Generate Custom CSS ✨" button. Clicking it:
- Opens a goal-entry form below the CSS field.
- You type a plain-English description of what you want — e.g. "Make the heading navy blue and 2rem, add extra padding on mobile".
- Click "Generate CSS ✨" — the plugin fetches the live component source code from GitHub and submits it to your AI provider (GitHub Copilot or OpenAI).
- The AI returns ready-to-paste CSS code using the exact class names from that component.
- Click ↑ Insert into field to paste the CSS directly into the field, or Copy to copy it to your clipboard.
- If you want to adjust the output, click ↻ Try again to go back to the goal form (your previous text is preserved) and regenerate.

- Go to Settings → RJM CSS Advisor and enter your credentials (see below).
Configuration (Settings → RJM CSS Advisor)
All settings are entered through the WordPress admin interface. Nothing needs to be added to wp-config.php.
GitHub Fine-Grained PAT
You need a GitHub Fine-Grained Personal Access Token that:
- Has Contents: Read-only access on the repository containing your ACF component source (e.g.
RJM-Digital/import-template-coach). - Belongs to a GitHub account that can read the selected repository.
- Has a Copilot Business seat only when GitHub Copilot is selected as the AI provider.
How to create the token:
- Go to GitHub → Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens → Fine-grained tokens.
- Click Generate new token.
- Set:
- Token name:
RJM CSS Advisor – [site name] - Expiration: 90 days (recommended — set a calendar reminder to renew)
- Repository access: Only select the component source repo
- Permissions → Repository permissions → Contents: Read-only
- Token name:
- Click Generate token and paste it into the plugin settings.
⚠️ The token is stored encrypted using your site's WordPress
AUTH_KEY. It is never logged or transmitted anywhere except to GitHub and Copilot/OpenAI APIs.
OpenAI Responses API
Select OpenAI API to use OpenAI's Responses API for CSS advice, planning, troubleshooting, screenshot analysis, and generation. Add an OpenAI API key from platform.openai.com/api-keys. The GitHub PAT is still required because component source is fetched from GitHub before each AI request.
The default OpenAI model is GPT-5.6. The available alternatives are:
- GPT-5.6 Terra for a lower-cost balance of quality and speed.
- GPT-5.6 Luna for faster, higher-volume work.
- GPT-5.5 as a previous-generation fallback.
- GPT-4o as a legacy fallback.
OpenAI reasoning effort defaults to Medium for GPT-5 models. Lower effort reduces latency and token cost; higher effort can improve difficult component analysis but may take substantially longer. GPT-4o does not use this setting. OpenAI responses are sent with API storage disabled because WordPress owns the plugin's conversation history.
GitHub Copilot retains its own model setting and continues to use the Copilot Chat Completions API. Switching providers does not overwrite the other provider's model selection.
Releases & Auto-Updates
