Increase WordPress media upload limits and PHP resource caps with safe, role-based controls and a clean admin UI.

Description

MediaBoost helps site owners resolve common upload and timeout issues by providing a safe, WordPress-native way to raise limits and monitor effective values.

Key benefits:

  • Role-based upload limits – Different caps for Administrators, Editors, Authors, and others.
  • Runtime PHP limits – Applies max execution time, input time, input vars, upload size, post size, and memory limits using ini_set() where available.
  • Optional .htaccess writer – For hosts that block runtime overrides, MediaBoost can update .htaccess (opt‑in).
  • Manual code generator – Generates .htaccess and .user.ini snippets for manual use.
  • Live server status – See the values your server reports, plus the effective WordPress upload limit.
  • Dashboard widget – View limits quickly from the WordPress dashboard.
  • Context-aware recommendations – Suggests stronger limits when commerce/builders are active.

MediaBoost is lightweight, secure, translation-ready, and built to follow WordPress.org best practices.

Installation

  1. Upload the MediaBoost folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress.
  3. Go to MediaBoost Settings to review and update limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the uploader still show a lower limit?

Some hosts enforce hard caps that override runtime settings. Check the Current Server Values and the Effective WordPress Upload Limit in MediaBoost Settings. If limits don’t change, enable .htaccess auto-write or apply the manual snippets provided.

Does this edit server files?

Only if you enable the optional .htaccess auto-write toggle. Otherwise, MediaBoost uses runtime configuration and provides manual snippets.

Is this safe for shared hosting?

Yes. All settings are sanitized, access is restricted to admins, and the .htaccess writer is opt‑in.
