This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/nodethemes/nodethemes-image-optimizer/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
Updates itself. It ships its own updater (Update URI header), so new versions appear under Dashboard → Updates.

NodeThemes Image Optimizer is a free WordPress plugin that converts JPEG and PNG images to lightweight WebP with one click from your Media Library, entirely on your own server. No API keys and no third-party service.

Installation

  1. Download the latest version from nodethemes.com/free-plugins. You can also click Code → Download ZIP above, but the version on nodethemes.com is ready to upload as it is.
  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. New versions then appear in Dashboard → Updates like any other plugin.
