Install

No release zip yet. The repository archive installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow:

wp plugin install https://github.com/missveronica/um-import-profile-photos/archive/refs/heads/main.zip

Declares an update source (https://github.com/MissVeronica/um-import-profile-photos), so updates arrive through the plugin's own updater.

UM Import Profile Photos - version 1.3.0

Extension to Ultimate Member for importing Profile photos. When importing Users via a CSV file the path/URL to the User's profile photo can be saved from a CSV column with the address of the Profile photo. The column header name is the Ultimate Member meta_key name.

UM Settings -> Appearance -> Profile -> Import Profile Photos

    • Meta_key with User Profile photo source address - Profile photo source address can contain either a wp-content path or an URL with 'https://'. Input of 'profile_photo' can't be used here.
    • Valid URLs for User Profile photo source address - Enter valid URLs for Profile photo source address one per line.
    • Reuse Meta_key with Profile photo source address - Tick to reuse (for future photo updates) the Profile photo source address meta_key and update UM Profile photo via the source address each time when Profile is viewed.

      Valid URLs

      Enter the common part of the URL for Profile photo loading. Example: https://your.domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/

      Reuse Meta_key

      This option can be used when Profile photo updates are made at the source address and UM editig is disabled by the plugin. For the Profile owner the remote photo is updated for every profile view to garantee updates. For othe Profile viewers an update is done once when the photo is older than one hour.

      Profile photos

      Supported mime types

      image/gif, image/jpeg, image/jpg, image/png, image/bmp

      Cropping

      Rectangular images are cropped to square images. Vertical rectangle are cropped top square, horizontal mid square.

      Resizing

      Images are resized according to UM Settings -> General -> Uploads -> "Profile Photo Thumbnail Sizes (px)"

      Quality

      Images are saved with Quality according to UM Settings -> General -> Uploads -> "Image Quality"

UM Forms Builder

  1. An UM predefined field with name "Import Profile Photo" can be used for display/edit of the field "Meta_key with User Profile photo source address".

  1. For a few changes of text use the "Say What?" plugin with text domain ultimate-member

Updates

  1. Version 1.1.0 Validation of URLs. UM predefined forms field. UM editing is disabled and less photo updates when Reuse Meta_key is active.
  2. Version 1.2.0 Update required for UM Version 2.10.0
  3. Version 1.3.0 Fix for unknown content in the meta_key profile_photo.

Profile/Cover photo updates and other uploaded files can be displayed with the UM Account File Manager plugin

Installation & Updates

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file at the green Code button
  2. Install or Update as a new WP Plugin, activate the plugin.
