This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/lwangdu/rating-scale-block/archive/refs/heads/main.zip
No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

Add accessible numbered rating scales and star ratings to the WordPress block editor.

Description

Rating Scale Block provides a responsive block for displaying a range between two editable labels. It is useful for guidelines, handbooks, rubrics, surveys, reviews, and other content that needs a clear visual scale.

The block includes:

  • Two editable endpoint labels.
  • Between two and ten rating points.
  • Numbered-circle and star display styles.
  • An optional filled or selected value.
  • Responsive layouts for narrow screens.
  • Accessible text for rating values and star-rating summaries.

The block displays information; it is not an interactive form control and does not collect visitor responses.

Installation

  1. Upload the rating-scale-block directory to /wp-content/plugins/, or install the plugin from a ZIP file in WordPress.
  2. Activate Rating Scale Block from the Plugins screen.
  3. Open the block editor and insert the Rating scale block from the Text category.

Usage

  1. Select either endpoint label in the editor to change its text.
  2. Use the block settings sidebar to choose between two and ten points.
  3. Enable Display as stars when a star rating is more appropriate than numbered points.
  4. Set Filled value to highlight a rating, or leave it at zero to show an unselected scale.

The Star rating variation is also available from the block inserter and block transforms.

Accessibility

Numbered scales expose their endpoint labels and numeric points as readable content. Star ratings include visually hidden text that communicates whether the rating is unselected or states the selected value and maximum. Editable endpoint labels have accessible names in the block editor.

Color is not the only means used to communicate numbered values. The layout stacks at narrow viewport widths, and rating points retain a circular shape while adapting to the available space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can visitors select a rating?

No. This block presents a rating scale or a saved rating value as content. It does not submit or store visitor input.

How many points can a scale contain?

The block supports between two and ten points.

Can I display stars instead of numbers?

Yes. Enable Display as stars in the block settings or insert the Star rating variation.
