A WordPress plugin for community-based organisations — NGOs, churches, fellowships, alumni associations, professional bodies. Events + groups, fully configurable.

Originally built for FGBMFI Malaysia. Refactored into a builder-agnostic, configurable architecture so any organisation can install it and tailor labels, organiser choices, and CTAs without writing code.

🚀 Key Features

1. Configurable Event Post Type

Events with single-day or multi-day ranges, multiple location types (in-person / online / hybrid / multi-venue), organiser attribution, smart CTA labels.

2. Configurable Group Post Type

"Group" is renameable per install — Chapter, Ministry, Branch, Cell, Region, Squad. Each event links to one group via a relationship field.

3. Smart Event Card

A single helper resolves the right button text and URL per event — "View [group]", "RSVP", "Get tickets", "Register", "Learn more", or custom — derived from organiser type and event metadata.

4. Events Ticker

Self-contained scrolling marquee of upcoming events for any sidebar, header, or section.

5. Site-wide Fallback Image

Set a default poster image in the dashboard; events without a featured image fall back to it automatically. Swap any time.

🛠 Architecture

  • Configurable: All labels, slugs, organiser choices, CTA labels editable in the admin — zero code customisation needed.
  • Builder Agnostic: Outputs raw, semantic HTML. Works with Bricks, Gutenberg, Elementor, Etch.
  • PSR-4 OOP: LK\Communities namespace, strict typing, modular module classes.
  • Optional Leokoo Site Toolkit integration: When LKST is present, shared brand colours and CSS variables are picked up automatically. Works fully standalone otherwise.
  • Zero JS Dependencies: Vanilla JS only. No jQuery.

📦 Installation

  1. Download the latest release.
  2. Upload leokoo-communities/ to /wp-content/plugins/.
  3. Activate via the Plugins menu.
  4. Visit Communities in the admin sidebar to configure labels and settings.

🎨 Configuration

After activation, navigate to Communities → Settings to:

  • Rename "Group" to whatever fits your organisation.
  • Configure organiser choices specific to your context.
  • Set the site-wide fallback event image.
  • Adjust date display format and default location type.
  • Edit the CTA label enum.
