Tooltipy (Keywords Tooltip Generator)

Automatically creates tooltip boxes for your technical keywords to explain them to your site visitors.

Tooltipy automatically detects keywords in your posts/pages and displays tooltip popups with their definitions.

Version 6.0 is a complete architectural rewrite to modern PHP 8 OOP with namespaces and classes, while keeping 100% backward compatibility for all existing users (same database options, same post meta keys, same shortcodes, same hooks).

Installation

  1. Upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/
  2. Activate through the 'Plugins' menu
  3. Go to Tooltipy > Settings to configure

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a keyword?

Go to Tooltipy > Add New in the WordPress admin and create a post. The title is the keyword.

How do I add a glossary?

Create a page and add the shortcode [tooltip_glossary].

Is 6.0 compatible with existing data from 5.x?

Yes. All database options, post meta, and shortcodes are identical.

How do I build a paid addon?

Implement the Tooltipy\Addon\AddonInterface and register it via the tooltipy_register_addons action hook.
