This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/kpirnie/wpplugin-twitter-feed/archive/refs/heads/development.zip
No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

Description

Creates a widget and shortcode for displaying a twitter timeline feed from a user utilizing the Twitter API.

Installation

  1. Download the plugin, unzip it, and upload to your sites /wp-content/plugins/ directory
    1. You can also upload it directly to your Plugins admin
  2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I display a timeline from someone other than my account?

Yes. Please make sure you get their permission before doing so.

Should I really use the cache?

Of course. Like any API, Twitter's API has a hard limit of 100,000 requests per day. If you exceed this limit, the feed will error out and cause issues on your site.

I would recommend caching for at least 1 day... so 86400 seconds.

Can I retweet, or share from here?

No. This is meant as a read-only display of a users timeline. While all usage cases will vary, as an example, I use Twitter to post web hosting issues in my infrastructure, and then use this feed as a sort of "news reel".
