This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

Animated seasonal particles (snow, sakura, autumn leaves, summer sun & sea) with a wind effect, plus an optional mouse-cursor trail — fully configurable from Settings → Season Effects.

Description

A lightweight, dependency-free canvas effect for your theme:

  • Snow — falling snowflakes, sparkling twinkle flakes, and fine drifting dust.
  • Sakura — falling cherry-blossom petals with smooth curved shapes, some swirling faster as if caught by wind.
  • Autumn leaves — tumbling leaves in several shapes and colors, including a veined leaf and a maple-style leaf.
  • Summer — a glowing animated sun with rotating rays, layered sea waves at the bottom of the screen, and rising light sparkles.
  • Rain — slanted raindrop streaks (fine drizzle and heavier drops) with small splash ripples where they hit the bottom of the screen.
  • Wind — a slow, natural gust cycle nudges every particle sideways (rain streaks slant with it) and occasionally sends a faint streak across the screen.
  • Cursor trail — an optional glowing trail that follows the mouse (or a finger on touch devices).

Everything is configurable without touching code: pick a season or let it switch automatically by month, tune particle count, toggle wind and the cursor trail, choose where on the site it appears, disable it on mobile, and even add your own accent color to any season's palette (added alongside the built-in colors, not replacing them).

The effect automatically respects the visitor's prefers-reduced-motion setting and pauses itself when the browser tab isn't visible.

Installation

  1. In wp-admin go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the plugin zip, and click Install Now. (Or upload the season-cursor-effects folder to /wp-content/plugins/ via FTP/SFTP.)
  2. Click Activate.
  3. Go to Settings → Season Effects to configure season, particle count, wind, cursor trail, display scope, and colors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this slow down my site?

It's a single small JavaScript file with no external dependencies or network requests. It pauses automatically on hidden tabs and honors reduced-motion preferences.

Can I show it only on the homepage, or only on certain content types?

Yes — under "Phạm vi hiển thị" (Display scope) choose the whole site, homepage only, or specific post types.

Can I hide it on phones?

Yes — enable "Tắt trên di động" (Disable on mobile) and set the width threshold below which it won't load.

Can I add my own brand color?

Yes — under "Màu sắc nâng cao" (Advanced colors) pick a color per season. It's added to that season's existing color set rather than replacing it, so the built-in variety is kept.
