Profile Reviews for HivePress

Shows a Vendor's reviews on their profile page and, optionally, lets Vendors rate and review their clients after a Booking or an Order.

Description

HivePress Reviews collects reviews on each Listing and gives every Vendor an overall star rating built from them. This plugin brings those reviews together where visitors weigh up a Vendor: on the Vendor's own profile page. It can also let Vendors review the people who book or buy from them, so a client's track record is visible too.

Reviews on Vendor profiles

• A Reviews section on every Vendor page, gathering the approved reviews from all of the Vendor's published Listings: the same reviews that make up the Vendor's star rating.
• Drawn by HivePress Reviews itself, so the reviews look exactly as they do on a Listing page, on every official theme, each with a link to the Listing it was left on.
• The first reviews are shown straight away and a "Show more reviews" button reveals more at a time. Every review up to your chosen maximum is in the page from the start, so search engines can read them.
• Choose the position (above or after the Listings), the number of columns, how many show at first, how many each press adds, the maximum, newest or highest rated first, and whether the Vendor's average rating sits beside the heading.
• A "Vendor Reviews" block for the page editor, and the shortcode [hivepress_hppr_vendor_reviews vendor="123"], to show any Vendor's reviews elsewhere.

Vendors reviewing clients (optional, off by default)

• A Vendor can give a star rating and a written review to a client: someone who has made a Booking of one of their Listings (HivePress Bookings) or placed an Order with them (HivePress Marketplace). Anyone else is refused, however the request is sent.
• You choose which Bookings count (finished ones, or any confirmed Booking) and which Orders count (completed ones, or any paid Order), and whether a Vendor gets one review per client or one per Booking or Order.
• Vendors write the review from a "Review Client" action on the Booking or Order page, or from the client's profile. They can edit or delete it later.
• The reviews appear in a "Reviews from Vendors" section on the client's public profile, with their average rating. Vendors also see a client's rating on the client's Bookings and Orders.
• Clients can reply once to each review of them, if you allow it.
• Publish straight away, or hold reviews for your approval under Comments.
• The client is emailed when a review of them is published, and the Vendor when the client replies. Both emails can be reworded under HivePress, Emails.
• Kept completely apart from Listing reviews: client reviews never count towards any Listing's or Vendor's rating.

Everything is translatable, no assets load from outside your site, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Installation

1. Upload the plugin files to the /wp-content/plugins/profile-reviews-for-hivepress directory, or install the plugin zip through the WordPress admin.
2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen. HivePress and HivePress Reviews must be installed and active.
3. Go to HivePress, Settings, Profile Reviews, to arrange the Vendor section and, if you want it, switch on client reviews.
4. For client reviews, HivePress Bookings or HivePress Marketplace must be active, and "Display profiles on the front-end" should be ticked under HivePress, Settings, Users, so clients have a profile page to show them on.

Once installed, the plugin checks for new versions automatically and updates through the normal WordPress Plugins screen, just like a plugin from the WordPress.org directory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which reviews appear on a Vendor's page?

The approved reviews on the Vendor's published Listings, which are exactly the reviews HivePress Reviews uses to work out the Vendor's star rating. Replies are not listed separately. A Vendor with no reviews yet gets no section at all.

I customised the Vendor page in the template editor and the section is missing

A template customised in HivePress's template editor replaces the page this plugin adds the section to. Open that template and add the "Vendor Reviews" block where you want the reviews.

Who counts as a client?

A user who has a confirmed Booking of one of the Vendor's Listings (by default, one whose booked time has ended), or who placed an Order credited to the Vendor (by default, a completed one). The check is made on the server every time a review is written, so it cannot be got round by editing the page.

Where do client reviews show?

On the client's public profile page, in a "Reviews from Vendors" section, and, to the Vendor concerned only, as the client's rating on their Booking and Order pages. They never appear on Listings or Vendor pages and never affect any Listing's or Vendor's rating.

A user who is also a Vendor has no "Reviews from Vendors" section

HivePress sends visitors of a Vendor's user profile to their Vendor page instead, so a Vendor's own user profile is never shown. Their client reviews are kept, and would appear on their user profile if they stopped being a Vendor.

Can I approve reviews before they appear?

Yes. Tick "Hold new and edited client reviews for approval" and they wait under Comments in the WordPress menu, where you can approve or delete them. The client is emailed once you approve.

Does deleting the plugin remove the reviews?

Not unless you ask it to. Your settings and every client review are kept by default, even though the WordPress delete screen warns that data will be removed, so a reinstall picks up where you left off. Tick "Delete all data" on the settings tab first if you want everything gone. Reviews of Listings belong to HivePress Reviews and are never touched.
