wp plugin install https://github.com/irapidchris-del/hivepress-trust-signals/releases/download/v1.9.0/hivepress-trust-signals.zipSurfaces verifiable trust and activity data in a sidebar block on HivePress listing and vendor pages.
Description
Adds a configurable "Overview" block to HivePress listing and vendor sidebars, built entirely from data HivePress already stores: verified badge, member since, active listings, rating and review count, favourites, completed bookings, typical response time, response rate, and last active.
Signals hide automatically when the relevant extension is inactive or there is not enough data - the block omits rather than estimates. Site admins see an HTML comment in the page source explaining exactly why any enabled signal is hidden.
Configure under HivePress > Settings > Trust Signals: display locations, the block's sidebar position (set separately for listing and vendor pages), list-row or pill-chip style, card styling (border and shadow), optional Font Awesome icons (choosable per signal, including newer Font Awesome and brand icons, with size, weight and colour settings), custom colours, enabled signals, and the response-statistics thresholds (grace period, minimum rate to display, slowest response time to display, and minimum conversation sample).
All data stays in your WordPress database - nothing is sent externally. The optional last-active signal stores a single timestamp per user (updated on login, on sending a message, and at most hourly while browsing logged in); the plugin also keeps a per-vendor completed-bookings counter and short-lived cached statistics. Deleting the plugin removes all of this data.
Translation-ready: all strings use the hivepress-trust-signals text domain, with a POT template in /languages for Loco Translate or Poedit. Save translations to Loco's "System" location (the WordPress languages folder) so they survive plugin updates - they load automatically, the same way official HivePress extensions are translated.
Updates are delivered straight from the plugin's public GitHub repository: when a new release is published there, the update appears in Dashboard > Updates and on the Plugins screen just like any other plugin, and can be installed with one click.
Changelog
1.8.14
- Fixed: updating two of these extensions one after the other could fail on the second with "up to date" until Check for updates was pressed again. WordPress rebuilds its update list after each update by asking wordpress.org first, and gives up on the whole list when that call is slow; the plugin now keeps its own update in the list regardless.
- Changed: a release found more than an hour ago is refreshed in the background whenever the Plugins screen is opened, so the newest release is offered rather than an intermediate one.
- New: a Check for updates bulk action on the Plugins screen, which checks every selected extension in one go, and the row that says Updating no longer shrinks on phones.
1.8.13
- Changed: on the settings tab the help icon now sits directly after each label, and its tooltip opens to the right at full width instead of being cut into a narrow strip to the left. The same placement is used across every extension in this family.
1.8.12
- New: a live preview to the right of the settings draws the block as it will appear in a sidebar, with the style, signals, icons and colours on the page, following every change as you make it; drag its edge to make it wider. The figures are examples, and nothing is stored until you press Save Changes.
1.8.11
- Changed: the shared icon library is updated to the version that fixed two faults found in Account Menu Enhancer 3.4.0 - a repeater row inheriting its neighbour's icon on save, and a re-picked icon drawing the old glyph enlarged. Neither could happen on this extension's own screens, and nothing here changes; it is released so that every combination of extensions carries the corrected copy, whichever one a site happens to load it from.
1.8.10
- Changed: icons are now drawn directly into the page instead of being loaded as a font. A visitor's browser no longer downloads roughly 230 KB of stylesheet and font files just to show a few small pictures, and the icons can no longer clash with the icon font HivePress loads itself. Your colour and size settings work exactly as before.
- Added: every icon in the free Font Awesome 7 set is now available, brand icons included, which is around 800 more than before. Type a few letters to find one rather than scrolling a long list, and each result still shows you the icon itself.
- Changed: the settings screen loads a great deal faster, because the icon choices are fetched as you search instead of every one of them being written into the page.
1.8.3
- Changed: internal formatting only. Some explanatory comments in the settings screen's script were reworded to match the wording used across the rest of these extensions, so the file is easier to compare with its siblings. Nothing about the settings screen, or anything else the plugin does, has changed.
1.8.2
- Changed: the settings screen now carries the same furniture as every other extension in this family. The jump links are labelled "Jump to a section:" and stay with you as you scroll, a Save Changes tab sits on the right edge of the screen wherever you are on the page, and a button in the bottom corner takes you back to the top. If you have another of these extensions installed and it has already put one of those on the screen, this plugin leaves it alone, so you always see one of each rather than two. The quick links reuse the names WordPress already gives the section headings, so a link or a bookmark to a section keeps working.
- Changed: the colour pickers and the settings-screen styling are now loaded on the Trust Signals tab alone rather than on every HivePress settings tab, and the tab is recognised however you reach it, including from the plain HivePress > Settings menu link.
1.8.1
- Changed: the icons ship inside the plugin rather than being fetched from a third-party server, so every request stays on your own site and the icons draw with the rest of the page.
- Changed: the bundled icon set is the complete free one, so an icon can never be drawn in the wrong style. Nothing you can pick in the settings looked wrong before this.
1.8.0
- Added: the icon beside each signal can now be chosen, from HivePress's own icon list plus a set of newer Font Awesome and brand icons. The standard icons are unchanged, and newer choices load one shared stylesheet automatically - on pages where they actually render, and only if no other plugin from the same author has loaded it already.
- Added: icon size (as a percentage of the surrounding text) and icon weight (Normal, Semi-bold or Bold) settings. All icon options live in a new Icons section and appear only while Show icons is ticked, so Show icons and the existing Icon colour setting have moved there from General.
- Added: quick links at the top of the settings tab that jump to each section, with dividers between the sections, so the tab is no longer one long undifferentiated scroll.
- Improved: settings descriptions are shorter and easier to scan, section descriptions wrap at a readable width on wide screens, and the tooltips are wider than the narrow column WordPress gives them.
1.7.11
- Fixed - "View details" is back on the Plugins screen. WordPress only offers that link for a plugin that has told it about itself, and this one stayed quiet whenever there was nothing to update to, which is almost always. The details popup, its changelog and the donate link inside it were all unreachable from the Plugins screen as a result.
- Fixed - checking for updates no longer holds up an admin page. The check ran while WordPress was building the Plugins screen, so on a site with several of these extensions one page load made one request to GitHub after another and could sit there for many seconds, once, before behaving normally again for hours. The check now runs in the background moments later. Pressing Check for updates still asks GitHub straight away, because you are waiting for that answer.
1.7.10
- Checking for updates no longer reports "Could not reach GitHub" when nothing is wrong. GitHub allows a server only a limited number of anonymous update checks each hour, shared by every plugin on the site and, on shared hosting, by every other site on the same server. Running out is ordinary, but it was reported as though the site could not reach GitHub at all. Update checks now read the release from github.com, which sets no such limit, so the message no longer appears. If the limit is ever reached by some other route, the notice now says so plainly instead of blaming your connection.
- A failed update check no longer hides an update that is genuinely waiting. The last successful answer is kept until a later check succeeds, so a pending update stays on the Plugins screen instead of disappearing for an hour.
1.7.9
- Fixed: the author link on the Plugins screen now points at the right profile page, matching every other extension in the range.
- Added: your settings and the activity figures built up for each vendor are now kept when the plugin is deleted. A new "Delete All Data" tickbox under Removing the Plugin is the only thing that erases them, and it is off unless you turn it on. Previously deleting the plugin always wiped everything, including each vendor's completed bookings total, which cannot be rebuilt.
- Added: a "Donate" link on the Plugins screen and in the plugin details popup, for anyone who would like to support the work. It appears nowhere else and gates nothing.
1.7.8
- Changed: translations now load through WordPress's built-in just-in-time mechanism, exactly as the official HivePress extensions do. Nothing to change for existing sites; translations saved in Loco Translate's "System" location keep working and survive plugin updates.
1.7.7
- Changed: the sidebar block is now injected with HivePress's newer merge_blocks API instead of merge_trees, which HivePress plans to deprecate. No change in behaviour or placement.
- Fixed: the "Show icons" setting no longer repeats its label beside the checkbox (HivePress reuses the label as the checkbox caption when none is set; it now has its own caption).
1.7.6
- Fixed: the booking cache refresh registered on the HivePress model hooks never ran, because it checked for a model getter with method_exists and HivePress model getters are magic methods. The plain WordPress fallback hook was covering for it, so displayed data was unaffected, but the intended refresh path now works.
- Fixed: a number setting cleared to empty (for example the sidebar order or the response-rate grace period) is now read as its documented default instead of zero.
- Added: short explanations on the last few settings that had none (block title, show on, pill colours), and an introductory description on both settings sections.
1.7.5
- Changed: the GitHub updater now uses WordPress's native update mechanism (the update_plugins hostname API introduced in 5.8) for better integration and reliability. No action is needed - updates continue to appear on the Plugins screen and via the "Check for updates" link.
1.7.4
- Improved: the "Check for updates" link now reports separately when GitHub cannot be reached (for example a private repository) instead of showing "up to date", making update problems easier to diagnose.
1.7.3
- Added: a "Check for updates" link on the Plugins screen that clears the cached lookup and checks GitHub immediately, instead of waiting for WordPress's twice-daily check.
1.7.2
- Added: automatic updates from GitHub. New releases published on the plugin's GitHub repository now appear as one-click updates in the WordPress dashboard, so the plugin no longer has to be reinstalled by hand.
1.7.1
- Changed: the sidebar order is now set separately for listing pages and vendor pages (two settings instead of one), so the block can sit in a different position on each. Any value saved under the previous single setting is carried over to both on upgrade.
1.7.0
- Added: a "Sidebar order" setting to control where the block appears in the sidebar - a lower number places it higher on the page, a higher number lower down (default 35, applied to both listing and vendor pages).
- Changed: the default block title is now "Overview" (existing sites keep whatever title they have already saved).
- Changed: the reply-speed wording now scales truthfully with the vendor's actual median - within an hour, a few hours, a day, a few days, a week, two weeks, or a month. The "Slowest response time to display" setting now only controls whether the signal is shown at all, so whatever is displayed always reads true at any cap.
- Improved: the completed-bookings counter is now updated as soon as a booking completes instead of on the next page view, so short booking storage periods can no longer delete a booking before it is counted (verified against the Bookings extension source).
- Fixed: in the list-rows style, a custom icon colour now renders at full strength - the muted row-label text no longer fades the icon along with it (pill chips were already correct).
- Fixed: uninstall now also removes the three response-statistics settings added in 1.6.0 (grace period, minimum rate, slowest response time to display).
- Fixed: removed a leftover extension-directory registration that referenced the Color field class deleted in 1.5.3.
- Fixed: the response-statistics query can no longer cause a PHP 8 fatal error in the rare case the database query fails.
- Changed: plugin headers now declare Requires at least, Requires PHP and Domain Path, and the version option is autoloaded (one less database query per page load).
- Changed: refreshed the translation template (correct file references and UTF-8 charset) and clarified the colour-picker setting description.
1.6.1
- Fixed: the admin diagnostics comment now quotes the configured response-time cap and response-rate threshold instead of the old hardcoded defaults.
1.6.0
- Added: three response-statistics settings so site admins can tune what was previously hardcoded - the response-rate grace period (hours a new conversation is excluded from the rate before counting as unanswered, default 48), the minimum response rate to display (default 80%, set 0 to always show), and the slowest response time to display (default 3 days). Changes take effect immediately - the stats cache is keyed to these values.
- Added: tooltips on every setting that lacked one, so each option explains what it does.
1.5.3
- Fixed: removed the plugin's own Color field class. HivePress 1.7.26 ships its own \HivePress\Fields\Color, and two classes with the same fully-qualified name collide. Colour settings now use the core field on 1.7.26+ (with a plain text fallback on older versions), and the Iris colour picker binds by field name with explicit defaults.
1.5.2
- Code quality release: zero violations against the HivePress coding-standards ruleset (full docblock coverage, comment style, reserved parameter rename) and zero PHPStan level 5 errors (removed a provably dead debug branch and redundant null checks; corrected docblock types). No behaviour changes.
1.5.1
- Fixed: message-driven cache invalidation and activity tracking now use the raw wp_insert_comment hook (the HivePress model-specific create hook only fires when the model registry resolves the type). Response-time display was unaffected as it reads the database directly.
- Added: raw transition_post_status fallback for booking cache invalidation.
1.5.0
- Added: proper colour picker (core WordPress Iris) replacing the native browser input, with per-field Default reset buttons.
- Changed: new default palette - icons #b5becf, pill text #4a5568, pill background #eaecf0 (existing installs still on the old defaults are migrated automatically; custom colours are untouched).
- Added: pill layout setting - stacked (one per line, new default) or inline (wrapped).
- Changed: uniform pill thickness regardless of icons (fixed icon metrics and min-height).
- Changed: verified pill now uses the same styling as all other pills.
- Added: uninstall.php removing all plugin options, counters, activity meta and transients on deletion.
- Added: Author URI.
1.4.0
- Changed: block title is now an h5, centred (content-title--center), for closer visual parity with sidebar headings.
- Added: native browser colour pickers for icon, pill background and pill text (custom HivePress Color field, registered via the official extensions filter).
- Added: opt-in LocalBusiness AggregateRating JSON-LD on vendor pages (off by default to avoid duplicate structured data).
- Changed: response stats now use the full message history (newest 20,000 messages), not just 90 days.
- Fixed: verified badge on listing pages now also honours vendor-level verification.
- Changed: "Member since" uses abbreviated months (e.g. Sep 2024) to prevent wrapping.
- Added: logged-in page visits now count towards "last active" (throttled to one write per hour).
1.3.0
- Fixed: block now renders on vendor profile pages (core replaces the main query there for listing pagination, so context is now read from HivePress request contexts, the same mechanism core uses).
- Added: card style toggle (border, shadow, padding matching HivePress theme sidebar widgets).
- Added: custom colour settings for icons, pill background and pill text.
- Changed: block title now uses native HivePress markup (h2.hp-section__title with content-title accent bar).
- Changed: verified accent now uses the core HivePress badge green; icons default to the muted style HivePress uses.
- Added: admin-only diagnostics comment in page source explaining hidden signals.
- Added: load_plugin_textdomain and POT template for translations.
1.2.1
- Added Settings quick link on the Plugins screen.
1.2.0
- Bookings logic verified against extension source; completed-bookings count survives the storage-period deletion cron via a monotonic counter.
1.1.0
- Display style setting (rows or pills) and optional Font Awesome icons.
1.0.0
- Initial release.
