A free WordPress plugin that extends the native Bulk Edit screen with granular taxonomy actions: Add, Remove and Replace terms across hundreds of posts, products or custom post types at once.

Description

Standard WordPress Bulk Edit only works additively: checking a term adds it to every selected item, while unchecking a term means "leave it untouched" — there is no way to remove a category from many posts at once.

inCOD Bulk Taxonomy Remove adds a Bulk Taxonomy Action selector directly inside the Bulk Edit panel, so you can change taxonomy associations in bulk without opening a single post.

Key Features

  • Add terms – native WordPress behaviour (default, nothing changes for existing workflows).
  • Remove selected terms – subtracts the checked terms from every selected item.
  • Replace all terms – keeps only the checked terms, removing every other term from the taxonomy.
  • Works everywhere Bulk Edit works – Posts, Pages, Custom Post Types and WooCommerce products.
  • WooCommerce taxonomies – product_cat, product_tag, product_shipping_class and global attribute taxonomies (pa_*).
  • Custom taxonomies – any taxonomy visible in Quick Edit / Bulk Edit, hierarchical or not.
  • No settings screen – activate it and the controls appear automatically on list screens.
  • Translation ready – ships with a .pot file in languages/.

Security

  • Nonce verification (icbtr_bulk_edit_nonce) on every bulk update.
  • Capability checks (edit_others_posts / edit_posts) before any modification.
  • Sanitization with absint() and sanitize_key() on all input.
  • WooCommerce HPOS compatibility declared on before_woocommerce_init.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.0+
  • PHP 7.4+
  • WooCommerce 6.0+ (optional)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with WooCommerce products? Yes. Product categories, tags, shipping classes and global attribute taxonomies (pa_*) are supported.

Is my request verified? Yes. Every bulk update verifies the icbtr_bulk_edit_nonce nonce and the required capabilities before modifying terms.

Which taxonomies are supported? Any taxonomy shown in Quick Edit / Bulk Edit for the current post type, including custom taxonomies registered by themes and plugins.
