Purpose
This plugin is intended for demos and MCP-connected assistants that need to query WooCommerce orders, customers, coupons, refunds, and order notes without relying on the WooCommerce admin UI.
MCP setup
This plugin is intended to be used behind the WordPress MCP Adapter endpoint.
VS Code
Create or update .vscode/mcp.json in your project with placeholder values like these:
{
"servers": {
"wordpress-mcp-demo": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest"
],
"env": {
"WP_API_URL": "https://your-site.example/wp-json/mcp/mcp-adapter-default-server",
"WP_API_USERNAME": "your-username",
"WP_API_PASSWORD": "your-application-password",
"NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED": "0"
}
}
}
}
Notes:
- Use an application password, never a real account password.
- Replace the endpoint with your own MCP Adapter URL.
- If your local certificate is trusted, remove
NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED.
Claude Desktop
On Windows, if Node is installed locally, claude_desktop_config.json can look like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"woocommerce_mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest"
],
"env": {
"WP_API_URL": "https://your-site.example/wp-json/mcp/mcp-adapter-default-server",
"WP_API_USERNAME": "your-username",
"WP_API_PASSWORD": "your-application-password",
"NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED": "0"
}
}
}
}
If Claude Desktop runs on Windows but your Node toolchain lives in WSL, use wsl.exe instead:
{
"mcpServers": {
"woocommerce_mcp": {
"command": "wsl.exe",
"args": [
"npx",
"-y",
"@automattic/mcp-wordpress-remote@latest"
],
"env": {
"WP_API_URL": "https://your-site.example/wp-json/mcp/mcp-adapter-default-server",
"WP_API_USERNAME": "your-username",
"WP_API_PASSWORD": "your-application-password",
"NODE_TLS_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED": "0"
}
}
}
}
Notes:
- Use the Windows config file used by Claude Desktop.
- If
npxis not available on Windows, the WSL-based configuration is usually more reliable. - Keep credentials out of the repository and out of screenshots.
