Searcherries for WordPress

The official Searcherries plugin for the WordPress.org directory. It shows the AI visibility of a Searcherries project inside wp-admin: the visibility score and its change, mentions by AI platform, named share, top competitors, top cited domains, connected-source status and the prioritized action plan, plus a dashboard widget with the score and the next three actions.

The plugin reads the Searcherries REST API with a personal access token. It is read-only, sends requests only on an administrator's own page loads and button clicks, caches responses for one hour, and adds nothing to the public site. See readme.txt for the directory listing, the external-service disclosure and the FAQ.

Development

Requires PHP 7.4+ (8.2+ for the dev tools), Composer, Node 18+ for the assets. No MySQL and no Docker: the test site runs on SQLite.

composer install # PHPCS (WordPress-Extra + Docs + PHPCompatibility) and PHPUnit
composer test:setup # downloads WordPress + the SQLite drop-in + Plugin Check into .wp-test/
composer test # PHPUnit against the real WordPress HTTP API, mocked with pre_http_request
composer lint # phpcs (composer lint:fix runs phpcbf)
composer lint:php # php -l on every file
composer plugin-check # WordPress.org Plugin Check (static + runtime) on the built plugin
composer make-pot # regenerates languages/searcherries.pot
composer build # build/searcherries.zip without dev files (.distignore)
npm install && npm run assets # renders .wordpress-org/*.png from .wordpress-org/src/icon.svg

bin/serve.sh previews the plugin at http://localhost:8787/wp-admin against a mock of the API that serves the test fixtures (token demo-token; paid-required and rate-limited reproduce the 403 and 429 notices).
