Frequently Asked Questions
What is GTFS?
The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is a common format for public transportation schedules and associated geographic information. GTFS "feeds" allow public transit agencies to publish their transit data in a format that can be consumed by a wide variety of software applications.
Can I import multiple GTFS feeds?
Yes, you can import multiple GTFS feeds for different transit agencies or service areas. The plugin will keep track of which data belongs to which feed.
Does this plugin support real-time GTFS data (GTFS-RT)?
The current version supports static GTFS data only. Support for GTFS-RT (real-time) is planned for a future release.
How often should I update my GTFS data?
This depends on how frequently your transit agency updates their schedules. Many agencies update their GTFS feeds quarterly, but some update more frequently. We recommend setting up a regular import schedule that matches your agency's update frequency.
Can I customize the appearance of maps and schedules?
Yes, the plugin provides numerous options to customize the appearance of maps, routes, and schedules. You can set custom colors, adjust map settings, and style timetables to match your website's design.
How does the plugin handle performance with large GTFS datasets?
The plugin includes built-in caching and query optimization to ensure good performance even with large datasets. For very large transit systems, we recommend using a caching plugin and ensuring your server meets our recommended requirements.
