Installation

1. Upload the wp-auto-social-share folder to /wp-content/plugins/
2. Activate the plugin through the "Plugins" menu in WordPress
3. Go to Settings → Auto Social Share
4. Enter your Meta App ID, App Secret, and Access Token
5. Configure your Facebook Page ID and Instagram Business Account ID
6. Enable the platforms you want to share to
7. Publish a post and it will be automatically shared!

Setup Guide

1. Create a Meta Developer App at https://developers.facebook.com/
2. Add the "Facebook Login" and "Instagram Graph API" products
3. Generate a User Access Token with pages_manage_posts, pages_read_engagement, instagram_basic, and instagram_content_publish permissions
4. Exchange for a long-lived token
5. Get your Page Access Token from the /me/accounts endpoint
6. Find your Instagram Business Account ID from the Page's instagram_business_account field

Does it work with Instagram personal accounts?

No, only Instagram Business or Creator accounts linked to a Facebook Page are supported.

No, it only shares when a post transitions from non-published to published for the first time.

Can I customize what gets shared?

Yes, use the caption template with variables: {title}, {link}, {excerpt}

Does Instagram require an image?

Yes, Instagram posts require a featured image to be set on the WordPress post.
