macOS Dots Pro is a free WordPress plugin that adds Finder-inspired color labels to posts, pages, media, and category list screens.

Requirements

• WordPress 6.0 or newer
• PHP 7.4 or newer

Installation

1. Download macos-dots-pro-4.1.2.zip from the latest GitHub release.
2. In WordPress, open Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
3. Select the ZIP, install it, and activate macOS Dots Pro.
4. Open Posts, Pages, Media, or Categories and use the new color column.

You can also clone this repository into wp-content/plugins/macos-dots-pro.

Extending support

The plugin supports posts, pages, attachments, and categories by default. Developers can add public admin post types or taxonomies:

Every update remains subject to the current user's WordPress capabilities for the target content item or taxonomy.

Data

Post, page, and attachment labels use the _mcd_color post meta key. Taxonomy labels use the mcd_color term meta key. Uninstalling the plugin removes both.

Development

The production source is maintained in the coded-letter-monorepo and released to this public repository. The plugin has no build step.

Validate JavaScript changes with:

node --check assets/macos-dots-pro.js

Validate PHP changes, when PHP is available, with:

php -l macos-dots-pro.php
php -l uninstall.php
