From the readme

DrumBeat DrumBeat is a WordPress plugin forked from Easy Liveblogs with an emphasis to rewrite the code and add a handful of features and templating. This was initially done in haste for We Distribute's live coverage of FediForum, when we realized serious limitations with Automattic's own grandfathered-in Liveblog plugin. Nothing quite like switching horses mid-stream! New features User avatars and profile links Classes added to present each entry as a card Better timeline layout Linkable timestamps Current Development We want to modernize this project a bit by making this a little bit more friendly to users and developers. Some goals: Convert current layout to a template / component-based system Add in-page post box for WordPress users that have permissions to post. Maybe incorporate some of the WebSocket stuff from Automattic's plugin? ActivityPub integration for posts, if so desired. Mastodon / Fediverse Sharing options, if so desired? It might also make sense to kind of merge Easy Liveblogs and Liveblog into one synthesized plugin here, but that's also going to take ongoing research and work.
