Brizy Product Image Carousel releasesself-updates

Standalone WordPress/WooCommerce plugin that enhances product thumbnail grids — including Brizy WooCommerce Products/category layouts — with a hover-only image carousel.

What it does

• Keeps the WooCommerce featured image as the normal/default product thumbnail.
• Uses only the product-specific images designated in the product editor for the hover carousel.
• Starts rotating only when the visitor hovers/focuses the product image.
• Shows previous/next arrows only while hovering/focusing the product card.
• Adds plugin settings for timing, animation, selectors, contexts, preload, loop, AJAX fallback, and arrow styling.
• Adds per-image framing controls for carousel images: focal X, focal Y, zoom, and a draggable preview.

Requirements

• WordPress 6.0+
• PHP 7.4+
• WooCommerce 7.0+
• Brizy is optional but this plugin is designed for Brizy's WooCommerce product grids.

Installation

1. Copy this folder to wp-content/plugins/brizy-product-image-carousel.
2. Activate Brizy Product Image Carousel in WordPress Admin → Plugins.
3. Go to Settings → Brizy Product Carousel and adjust timing/animation if needed.
4. Edit a WooCommerce product and use the Brizy Carousel Images box to choose the images that should rotate on hover.
5. Drag/click inside each carousel image preview, or adjust focal X/Y and zoom, if it needs a custom crop inside the product card frame.

Settings

• Enable carousel: master switch.
• Active contexts: shop, product category, product tag, search, or singular pages with embedded product grids.
• Rotation timing: delay between hover image changes.
• Transition duration: fade/slide speed.
• Animation: fade, slide, or none.
• Preload designated images: smoother hover at the cost of extra image requests.
• Loop carousel images: wraps previous/next and auto-advance.
• AJAX fallback: resolves Brizy-rendered cards by product URL when Brizy's module is not using the main WooCommerce query.
• Arrow styling: icon color and button background.
• Advanced selectors: escape hatch if Brizy changes markup or a theme uses custom product-card selectors.

GitHub updates

The plugin includes Plugin Update Checker and is wired to https://github.com/bigberryj/brizy-product-image-carousel.

The first updater-enabled ZIP still has to be installed manually from WordPress Admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. After that, future GitHub releases can appear in the normal WordPress Plugins update screen.

If the repository is private, add a read-only GitHub token to wp-config.php or the server environment as BPIC_GITHUB_ACCESS_TOKEN. Do not put the token in the plugin files.

How matching works

The plugin builds a frontend map of visible WooCommerce products in the current query. JavaScript scans configured product-card selectors, finds product links inside each card, matches those URLs to the product map, and decorates only cards that have designated carousel images.

If Brizy renders a product grid from its own query, the optional AJAX fallback sends the visible product links back to WordPress, resolves them to product IDs, and returns carousel data only for products that have designated images.

Version 1.0.2 also includes fallback card discovery from product links. This helps when a Brizy layout uses custom wrapper classes instead of standard WooCommerce li.product markup.

Version 1.0.3 fixes the hover lifecycle and image quality path: auto-rotation starts from the decorated card hover, carousel images use the full designated image URL when available, and the original responsive Brizy/WooCommerce image attributes are restored on hover-off.

Version 1.0.4 fixed the product editor media picker so selected images append to the existing list; you can add one image now and add more later without losing the first.

Version 1.0.5 changes portrait/vertical handling to fill the card frame without distortion: carousel images use cover/crop behavior, and each designated image can set focal X, focal Y, and zoom in the product editor.

Version 1.0.6 adds a visual crop-position editor: drag or click inside each image preview to move the focal point, use the zoom slider to crop tighter, and preview the card-frame crop before saving.

Version 1.0.7 tightens frontend targeting so the carousel decorates WooCommerce/Brizy product-grid cards only. Standalone page images linked to product URLs are ignored.

Version 1.0.8 makes the fade animation a true smooth crossfade: the next image fades over the current image before the real card image is swapped behind it. For a softer effect, set Transition duration around 400–600ms.

Version 1.0.9 restores detection for Brizy/WooCommerce product grids that do not expose the expected wrapper classes by recognizing repeated product-card patterns. A one-off standalone image linked to a product is still ignored.

Version 1.0.10 adds drag-to-reorder and move-up/down buttons to the product editor carousel image list. Each image now has a grab-handle for drag-and-drop reordering, plus up/down arrow buttons for fine-grained position control.

This avoids hard-patching Brizy internals and keeps failures contained: if markup does not match, the card simply behaves like a normal product thumbnail.
