Generate a featured image for posts and pages that do not have one, or replace an existing one with a newly generated image.

Description

Kreativ Feature Image Generator adds an editor-side action for generating a preview image from the post title, excerpt, and content. Editors can accept the preview to make it live, regenerate it, or discard it. It also supports automatic preview generation when saving a post without a featured image.

Features:

  • Manual preview generation from the post editor sidebar.
  • Accept, regenerate, or discard workflow before replacing the featured image.
  • Optional auto-generation on save for posts without a featured image.
  • Optional frontend cover-image prepend using the generated media item.
  • Configurable model, image size, base style, and prompt suffix.

Installation

  1. Copy the plugin folder into wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Activate the plugin from the WordPress admin.
  3. Go to Settings > Feature Image Generator.
  4. Add your API key and preferred generation settings.

Does it overwrite existing featured images automatically?

No. The plugin now generates a pending preview first. The current featured image stays untouched until an editor clicks accept.
