This is the repository archive. It installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow.

Install straight from GitHub with WP-CLI:

wp plugin install https://github.com/amitrahav/wp-401-on-failed-login/archive/refs/heads/master.zip

On Packagist as amit-rahav/wp-401-on-failed-login:

composer require amit-rahav/wp-401-on-failed-login

No built-in updater. New versions won't appear under Dashboard → Updates. Install new releases yourself, or let Git Updater track the repository.

Export zip into wp-content/plugins and enable it. Server side for this plugin is a fail2bun patch like: fail2ban-wordpress-login.

at your composer.json, at the repositories section add:

and then run $composer require wp-401-on-failed-login

run :$wp plugin install https://github.com/amitrahav/WP-401-On-Failed-Login/archive/master.zip --activate

removing wp/v2/users defualt endpoint, and hooking 401 into rest api auth error.
