AB System Info

WordPress plugin that generates a complete technical report about the state of a site (hosting, PHP, WordPress, plugins, content, WooCommerce) and downloads it as Markdown, ready to upload as context to an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot) to diagnose problems or document the site.

The underlying idea: when someone asks an AI for help with a WordPress problem, almost nobody provides the necessary technical information in a structured way. This plugin generates it in a single click — without exposing credentials — and delivers it as a .md file ready to upload. No dependencies: a single PHP file.

Note on language: the plugin's admin UI and the generated Markdown report are in Spanish. The report structure is universal and any AI assistant handles it correctly in any language, but if you need an English UI, open an issue.

• Robust OPcache detection even on shared hosting with opcache.restrict_api enabled (IONOS, SiteGround, Cloudways).
• Automatic plugin detection by category: security (Wordfence, Sucuri, Solid Security), caching (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, WP Super Cache, etc.), SEO (Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO), multilingual (Polylang, WPML, TranslatePress) and page builder (Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Avada).
• Admin panel under the shared "AB Plugins" menu (convention for the ab-* plugin family).
• Strict privacy: the report never includes passwords, authentication keys, salts, database credentials or the contents of wp-config.php. Only a whitelist of operational constants.
• No external dependencies: a single PHP file, no Composer, no npm.

Privacy and security

The report NEVER includes:

• Passwords, authentication keys (AUTH_KEY, SECURE_AUTH_KEY, etc.) or salts.
• Database credentials (DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_HOST).
• The contents of the wp-config.php file. Only a closed set of 20 operational constants is inspected via defined() (memory, cache, cron, debug, revisions).
• Personal user data beyond the public name and login (needed to show the post count per author).

Before sharing the report with an AI or a third party, review it anyway. You are responsible for its contents.

Installation

From the ZIP file

1. Download the ZIP from Releases or from the source code.
2. In the WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Select the ZIP and click Install Now.
4. Activate the plugin.
5. Go to AB Plugins → AB System Info to generate your first report.

Manually via FTP

1. Unzip the repository into /wp-content/plugins/ab-system-info/.
2. Activate the plugin from Plugins in the admin.
3. Continue from step 5 above.

Usage

Once active, go to AB Plugins → AB System Info. You will find three buttons and a block selector:

1. Save selection — saves which blocks you want to include in future reports.
2. Generate report on screen — shows a preview of the report with the current selection, without downloading anything.
3. ⬇️ Download report as Markdown — downloads the .md file with the saved selection.

The downloaded file is named, for example:

The report content is written in Spanish, but any AI assistant interprets it correctly regardless of the conversation language.

Automatic recommendations

The plugin analyzes the collected information and generates automatic warnings with three levels:

• ERROR: requires immediate attention (site not indexable, etc.).
• WARN: suboptimal configuration with measurable impact (PHP <8.1, low memory_limit, OPcache not active, etc.).
• INFO: recommended improvement without urgency (DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT not active, WP_POST_REVISIONS undefined, etc.).

If WooCommerce is active, it also detects: HPOS not active, HPOS out of sync, Action Scheduler with critical backlog, outdated WC templates in the theme, and critical pages (cart, checkout, my account) not configured.

Configuration

In AB Plugins → AB System Info:

Compatibility

• WordPress: 5.5 or higher.
• PHP: 7.4 or higher. Tested on PHP 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3.
• WooCommerce: automatic detection. Compatible with WooCommerce 7.1+ (the version where HPOS was introduced) and any modern version with Action Scheduler.
• Multisite: works on multisite installations (per-site activation). Detects network-activated plugins.
• Caching: compatible with WP Super Cache, WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache and similar. The plugin only runs on demand in the admin.
• Restrictive hosting: correctly detects OPcache even when opcache.restrict_api is enabled (IONOS shared, SiteGround, Cloudways, etc.).

Use cases

Diagnosing slowness

1. Generate the full report.
2. Upload it to an AI with a prompt: "This site is slow. Here is the full technical report. Identify the 3 most likely causes and prioritize what to address first."
3. The AI will see OPcache, memory, caching plugins, heavy page builders, Action Scheduler backlog, etc.

Onboarding an inherited site

1. You receive a site from another developer.
2. You generate the report.
3. You upload it to an AI with: "Let's audit this site. Document what each plugin does, identify the ones that look abandoned or problematic, and give me a cleanup plan."

Migration between hosts

1. Generate the report on the source host.
2. Generate another on the destination host after migration.
3. Upload both to an AI with: "Compare these two reports. What changed? Is anything missing on the destination?"

WooCommerce problem diagnosis

1. Symptom: checkout fails intermittently.
2. You generate the report with WC checked.
3. The AI will see: HPOS, Action Scheduler backlog, overridden templates, payment methods, shipping zones. Enough to identify the most likely causes.

Troubleshooting

The WooCommerce block does not appear WooCommerce must be active. If it is installed but deactivated, it will not be detected. After activating WooCommerce, refresh the AB System Info page.

The download button downloads nothing Check that no security plugin is blocking admin-post.php. Some firewall plugins (Wordfence Premium, Sucuri) block certain endpoints — add exceptions for admin-post.php?action=ab_system_info_md.

The "OPcache enabled" field says "no" but I know it is active Make sure you are on version 1.0.0 or higher. Since 1.0.0, detection uses extension_loaded() + ini_get('opcache.enable'), which also works with opcache.restrict_api enabled (typical on shared hosting).

WARN/INFO appear that I do not understand Each recommendation carries enough context to understand it. If any is unclear, open an issue on GitHub with the exact text.

Roadmap

Features under consideration for future versions:

• Two-report comparison: upload two MD files and get a diff highlighting the changes between two snapshots of the same site.
• JSON export in addition to MD, for integration with external tools.
• EDD block (Easy Digital Downloads): equivalent to WooCommerce for digital product stores.
• bbPress and BuddyPress block: for community sites.
• ab_system_info_extra_data hook: filter so other plugins can add data to the report.
• Security headers and SSL: information about active HTTP security headers.
