Multisite Custom Signup
The wp-signup.php file is notoriously hard to filter/customize. This plugin essentially rebuilds that file with better filters and more flexibility with modifying how it works.

No release zip yet. The repository archive installs, but the folder name will carry the branch suffix and updates will not flow:
